Cash for Trash
Many old appliances are located throughout Butler County’s woodlands, yards, waterways, fields, and roadsides. This program is to focus on the illegal dump of old appliances. Incentive payments will be made to Butler County residents through this program to encourage clean-up of farm dumps and other areas where old appliances allow for water contamination and other environmental hazards.
An incentive cost share rate will be provided at $25.00 per appliance checked in at our office before recycling. The individual will be responsible for delivery to the local salvage processing yard. There is currently no end date for this program but it will end once grant funds run out ($7500).
In order to allow for an increased number of participants, a $200 (8 appliance) limit is in place per household and each participant will be required to show proof of residence. Payments will be mailed out once a month to participants.
